30 Day Challenge – Act of Random Kindness

I had a thought last night.. what if we all just did something kind for another with no thought of anything for ourselves, no reward or recognition? What if we all did this and the people who received our kindness passed it on to another?

#randomacts #kindness #heart
Would this help the world be a better place?

The world we live in is messy and loud and full of harshness and propoganda and maybe just maybe if we were all a little nicer to each other then it would make life better for all of us.

I am suggesting a 30 day Challenge of Acts of Random Kindness!!

These can be free things like helping another with their shopping bags or putting their bins out or you can, if you can afford to, buy a coffee or a meal for someone in a queue or a homeless person.

Kindness, love, heart
I’ve included a small list of ideas but this is by no means exhaustive!

Help an elderly person to cross a road.

Take your neighbours bins out on bin day.

Smile at a stranger.

Buy a coffee for the person behind you in the queue.

Buy a sandwich for a homeless person.

Donate old items to charity.

Wash up the dishes without being asked.

Be nice to shop assistants – there job is pretty thankless!

Donate a can of food to your local food bank.

Leave a kind message on someone’s car.

Leave some money in a vending machine.

Pass on your parking ticket – hey we know we’re not meant to but share we all do it he he he.

Hold a door open for someone.

Take cookies or cakes to work – and not just because it’s your birthday!

Offer to cut your neighbours grass.

Buy some flowers and give them out to strangers.

Pick up litter – if we all did this how clean our streets would be!

Say thank you and make eye contact with people.

Remind your friends and family why you love them.

Plant flowers on a disused piece of land.

Clean a friend, family member or neighbours car.

Offer to clean someone’s windows.

Grow vegetables and share with neighbours.

Throw a surprise party.

Volunteer at a local charity shop, even an hour a week helps.

Walk instead of drive for a day – everyday if you like!

Say “I love you!” To those who are important to you.

Leave a kind note for your loved one.

Help at a scout or guide group.

Compliment another person.

Take someone’s dog for a walk.

Well, there is 31 things to get you started! Like I said this list is not exhaustive. Why not give it a try and send your comments to let me know how you’re doing?

Being an empath.

If you have ever felt overwhelmed in a crowd or sick to your stomach when a moment before you were ok then you may be an empath.

Do you listen to your gut or ignore what your body is telling you?

In reality humans are really good gauges of people and situations, in the past we needed to be in order to survive.

We are all made of energy and when things are off the energy changes. If you feel off about something you may be right!

Recently I was in a room with a group of people and the entertainment changed very fast! My stomach tightened and I felt sick. I suddenly realised that things were not right and I had to leave.

I left and came home as fast as I could and suddenly felt much calmer.

There are of course a lot of people that don’t believe in these things as they are not tangible and therefore can’t be real! But hey it’s no different than wifi or a mobile signal!

Energy is all around us and we need to listen to those gut feelings as they are telling us things all the time. Take the time to be still, be calm and hear what the universe is telling you.

The answers do not come when there is noise they come in the silence.

Love and peace.

A long journey

I’m on a journey, a life long journey.

A little over a year ago I began to realise that I could make my life better and control certain things just by having a different outlook.

Selftalk, positivity
I bought books about NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and Cognative Behavioural Therapy. I read The Secret and The Power.

I started to meditate and eat better.

I learned about mindfulness.

This morning I have just finished my 10 minutes of meditation today concentrating on my body and how it feels right here and now. Being present is important as it means I’m not thinking of the past or worrying about what the day may bring just the here and now.

Meds, medication, pills
For 20 years I took anti-depressants. I never felt present, just more anxious and more tired and more upset than ever and the doctors just kept dishing out the pills saying I needed more not less!

Last year was particularly tough for me, a lot of changes in my personal life, a new man, new flat, new job.

My past hung around my neck like heavy chains. Carrying my pain with me always, blaming my past for everything that wasn’t right in my life.

Last august I was at a country fair and visited a tarot reader. Now whatever your opinions or views tarot is not just about what the cards say it’s about the person doing the reading, their intuition, their insight.

What he told me urged me to change my life. I didn’t say a word the whole reading just listened. He told me to leave my past behind and sort the issues with my mother or it would drag me down forever. My mother and I have had a tumultuous relationship for as long as I could remember.

He told me my father was with me always watching over me and sending kind words when I needed them. My father died 5 years ago and I miss him terribly.

After that day things started to change and not instantly better but definitely different!

I lost my job, it was a temporary admin role and I hated it anyway! But money was tight and I needed to be working!

My mother and I had a phone conversation and it then became abundantly clear that she only thinks of herself. I made a hard decision to eliminate her from my life. Now I know a lot of you will disagree but some childhoods do not survive with good memories.

A month later I got another temp role and then a week later a phone call about a permanent job as a buyer with much better salary. I went for the interview and got the job!

My mother and I no longer speak and I feel much calmer and in control. I no longer feel like the unsuccessful child who can’t cope with things going wrong!

Selftalk, positive vibes
I meditate when I can (should be more often)! I eat mindfully- don’t confuse that with eating healthily lol! I think about what to say before I speak. I keep a journal. I use mantras to boost my mood and realise that I am a Queen.

I am important.

I am loved.

I am valued!

My fiancé is amazing and has been so patient during this immensely hard transition for me! He loves me unconditionally and tells me how much I mean to him. It’s like he knows I need to hear it!

Clouds, mountain
6 weeks ago, after a lot of reducing over time, I finally stopped taking my antidepressants. I no longer feel the need to cling to them for dear life!

I finally think clearly and feel in control of my emotions. My mind seems flawless and untainted by tears. I feel more confident and stronger.

Now don’t get me wrong, I am not encouraging anyone on medication to just throw that packet away and move on! This has taken me years to get to this point and my doctor knew what I was doing.

But, for me, this was the only solution I felt was right!

There are still many things I want to improve in my life. I want to lose weight and get fit. I’m currently 18stone and asthmatic.

Be calm, be happy!

I want to have regular holidays, own a better car, move to a home of our own. The list could go on forever.

All these things take time but it all starts with a thought, with the intention!

I started by thinking “be calm, be happy”.

Positivity, mood
No negative self talk, no bad words to myself! I realised how important positive self talk and self care really are!

Now, I am no where near the end of my journey but I do feel like half the battle is over. I feel that for many years, most of my life, I have lived in the clouds, my view obscured by negativity, other people’s words and medication! But now, I feel that I’ve come through that cloud, I can finally see the view beyond! And it’s beautiful, never ending, sunny and bright!

Nothing externally has changed but inside I feel like a whole new person!

If you feel out of control and depressed please try to see beyond the clouds. So many people life in darkness and it is such a waste of an amazing life! Read all you can on self help and positivity.

Talk to someone, be kind to yourself!

You are amazing and you matter! You just need to see it and realise your potential!

Feel free to leave a comment!

My First Blogger Recognition Award!

Blogger, recognition, awardFirstly so many thanks to Kristen @thiswifeandmommylife for nominating me! I’m so excited as this is the first time I’ve been nominated for anything! And now I get to nominate other bloggers too!

This award is a great way to share our fave bloggers and get to see lots of new pages!

This Bloggers recognition award is not a physical award but it is a fabulous way to show recognition for each other within the Blogging community and all our readers.

So my lovlies here are the rules:

  1. Thank the Blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  2. Write a post to show your award.
  3. Give a breif story of how your blog got started.
  4. Give 2 pieces of advice to new bloggers .
  5. Select 15 other bloggers that you would like to nominate for this award.
  6. Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them and provide a link to their post.

Here is a little about how Kiki-B’s Blog got started.  About a year ago I started writing, I’ve always enjoyed writing but this time it had a purpose.  If I could help just one other person then it would be worth it.

I like to write about love, kindness, reflection, Bullet Journalling and art, this list could grow who knows?

Writing itself is the easy part but the SEO, Hashtags, Scheduling all needs to be learned.

My advice to new bloggers:

  • Blog for you, not for anyone else. Don’t just write a post because you think it’s the fashionable thing to do or it’s what everyone else is doing, do it becasue you have a burning passion deep inside of you to write.  If writing come easily to you, just flows from your pen (or keyboard) then blogging may be just the outlet you need!
  • Find your niche – write about something you truely love, something that you are passionate about.  If you love to bake, then share that passion with fantastic photos/videos and recipes, if you love to organise your home then for the love of God share that passion with us all, heavens knows I need some help lol!

Basically, write with love and passion or don’t write at all.  Your passion will show and shine through your words.

Bullet Journals

I have been dabbling with a bullet journal for about a year now and find that it is a great way to relax and feel connected with myself and my creativity. I think of it as a combination of a journal and a scrapbook and a To Do list! Endless possibilities.

There are so many spreads and trackers that you can do and there are NO RULES!! I like guidelines not rules lol.

Here I will take you through the items you need to get started.

  • Note book – I get mine in Wilko(UK) for about £2-3 they have a soft cover and squared thick paper inside so you can draw, colour even paint a little.
  • Pens, Pencils – I buy way too much stationary but I love colours so I buy pens and pencils and crayons mainly Wilko again but WH Smith and Paperchase have some awesome goodies too.
  • Stencils & Rulers – Not essential but very useful, you can pick a ruler or any straight edge up from anywhere. Stencils are a little dearer but look on eBay or Amazon and you can get some good bundles.
  • Washi Tape – Not essential but fun and not expensive at all – I bought 4 rolls in Primark for £1.50! There are large selections of Washi Tape in lots of shops now, Paperchase have some gorgeous colours and Monsoon too in the kids stationary section.

Washi Tape

The Joy is often the process not the actual result! Don’t get too hung up on how creative you think you are or not. The process is what matters here and making it look how you want is key.  How functional it is, how helpful, how it assists your productivity.  No one is going to look at it or judge your artistic talents or grade you on this!

Writing and creating is cathartic and lightens the load in your brain. Do you often feel like there is just too much in your head, like you want to explode? Get headaches and feel stressed?

Well, Bullet Journals can really help and you will find the time just slipping away when you journal. You can populate your journal with anything you like, the ideas are endless and can be as creative as you like or just in black and white – totally your decision!

If you search on Pinterest you will find endless posts on how to create an amazing journal and this is a fantastic resource for planning your own!

Here are a few ideas of charts and spreads that you too can use or amend and make your own.

My journal is a bit higgledy piggledy but it’s ok I like it that way.  Like I said before perfection is not the key here, just creating something is.

I started with a KEY – this is a guide to some symbols that you can choose to use in your journal.

My key looks like this

but you can add colour coding or mini pic symbols, whatever floats your boat!

I then have a page or two of banners and doodle ideas, I love to doodle but sometimes feel I need a little inspiration to boost me along!

BulletJournal, BUJO, Doodles, Pens, Art

Next I have an index. This doesn’t have to be complicated and you can lay it out how you wish.  I did mine like this.

you can add pages to this anytime you want and I suggest leaving yourself about 2 facing pages for this so you will have plenty of room for your future journaling adventures.  You can also number your pages in such a way so they link like with like, for example, if you have a weekly spread on page 10, then a few pages of lists and wishes, then you add another weekly spread, just pop 10*15 or whatever your page number is so that you can see that it continues on from page 10.

Next I have a year to view double page facing spread. Mine takes up 5 pages as I ran it from November 2016 to December 2017 (trust me to be different!).  I find this a great place to store long term events and weight at the start of every month, helps you to see a trend.  You could also include birthdays and appointments if you like.

Now the next pages, if you want to use them, can be added in any order, wherever you like in your journal and to be honest, next year when this book is full I will probably rethink my whole layout and make it much easier for me to find things!

I have the following pages in my journal; I keep finding new ideas so this is a never ending list of things to track, recipes, To Do lists etc.

  • Movies to watch
  • Books to read

  • Wish List
  • Birthdays
  • Travel Bucket List
  • Things I need to sell
  • Music I love or want to get
  • Meal Plan on a 3-4 week rota so you don’t get too bored with the same dinner every Monday

  • Eternal Shopping list – those items your need every month like Loo Rolls!
  • Car info – I have MOT due date, Insurance Due Date, Dates when I have tyres changed etc etc.

  • Fruit and Veg tracker – or you can add this to your weekly spread!
  • Self Care – How to love yourself more, nice little ideas of things to do for you!

  • Christmas Gift List – Who wants what and where from, super organised lol! You can even include a section on any new decorations you want for this years theme!
  • Blog ideas – here I keep notes of things I want to write about, can be simple one word ideas or maybe a sentence or a picture that inspired me.
  • What’s for Dinner – Meal idea page, you can add recipes here too if you like.
  • T.V Shows – This is fun with all the streaming capabilities we have now, you can write down a show that you think you will like, colour in the episodes as you watch them so you don’t forget where you are up to and even rate them 5* or rubbish lol.
  • Morning Routine – Mine is about reflecting, meditating and little things to do every morning.

  • Daily Routine – Mine has things like Evening – Put clothes away, wash up, meditate, cleaning schedule, laundry day etc.
  • Weight Loss Tracker – Every 7lb lost I offer myself a small reward to keep myself motivated!
  • CM’s Lost tracker – Inches if you prefer but there are 2.5cm to every inch so looks like you have achieved so much more!!
  • Exercise Tracker – I do a short 10 min workout every morning and evening and this will show me how I improve over time.
  • Journey cost fuel tracker – This keeps my mileage and fuel costs together and there is a graph too to show how many miles per month and how much I have spent on fuel too, it’s an eye opener!

Like I said before, the list is endless and you can add whatever takes your fancy! Have fun and experiment.

Next I will have all my weekly spreads, these can be laid out anyway you want and including any info you want. I tend to sketch mine out on a rough piece of paper until I get the layout I want and included all the items I may want.  This is an ever evolving process and can change every week or you can keep it the same, entirely up to you.  On mine for this week I have included a box for each day which has the date, space for appointments or notes, a box for the weather, Lunch and Dinner and What I am going to wear each day.  I also have a notes box for general reminders, a small tracker for the week that has things like Vacuum, clean bathroom etc, a small box for next weeks items like “buy a card for Sally” or Get car MOT’d, I have a Buy box for anything major I need to buy, a small sleep tracker and a water and fruit and veg tracker too!! So, you can see that I have a lot of information on one page! It is all in one place for you to see in glorious technicolour!

Why not share some pictures of your journals?

Childhood memories

My dads parents lived quite close when I was younger. I have really lovely memories of them, they were always lovely and always kind but never looked any different from when I was born to when I was 30!

When I was around 8 I would go and stay at weekends. It was an adventure with sweets and crisp sandwiches!

Some Saturdays my grandad would take me to work with him, he was a civil engineer and draw how the roads would look. Heed wheel me up and down the portacabins on an office chair!

Childhood, young,
Some days I’d help in the garden or help clean their car.

My granny and I would play hunt the thimble and Ludo while grandpa watched the snooker with the sound off.

They would make me sandwiches and let me have lemonade and sweets! They’d let me play on the African drum and the onyx eggs they’d bought back from Kenya when grandpa was stationed out there in the 40’s.

When there was family down from Bath they would all come to granny’s and there would be tea and cakes and sausage rolls. I’d play with my cousins eat lots of cake!

I remember their house so well, it was a 1950’s style house in Oxfordshire, the front door was white with a glass panel that was obscured the doorbell made a distinctive bing bong and there was an old oak barometer hanging in the hall wall. The walls inside were pale green, the sofas flowery the tv on wheels with no remote control as they didn’t exist yet!

The garden not too big but big enough to make memories in. The kitchen tiny but big enough for granny to disintegrate Brussels sprouts in!

The saddest this is that they are both gone now but I will always cherish these childhood memories!

Do what you need to in order to remember these kind of people in your life. Photo albums, collages, paintings.. don’t let the good memories slip away x
